Connected devices

Connecting devices to My Personal Records

If you use a health device, like a blood pressure monitor or fitness tracker, you can connect it to My Personal Records to automatically share your health data. You can also connect Apple Health.

To connect a device, open My Personal Records and select Connected Devices under Tools and Settings.

Each device has its own setup process. Follow the instructions for the device you want to connect.

Select Connect and follow the prompts. You may be asked to create an account or sign in to an existing account. Choose the data you want to share, then select Allow.

Confirm the connection to finish setting up your device.

Once your device is connected, its status will show as Connected. Open the Journal Entries or Results, Reports and Readings menus to view your data.

Data will continue to be collected by any devices currently connected to your MPR account.


Disconnecting devices from My Personal Records

To disconnect a device, select Disconnect below the connected device.

You can also disconnect your device through the device's account settings.

When prompted, confirm that you want to delete the data collected from the device.

If you want to restore deleted data, go to History under Tools and Settings in your profile.


Privacy Policy

Connected devices are provided and managed by third-party companies. Each provider has its own:

  • Privacy Policy
  • User Agreement
  • Terms and Conditions

When you connect a device, you agree to the provider's Privacy Policy, User Agreement, and Terms and Conditions, in addition to the MyHealth Alberta Account User Agreement and Privacy Policy. You can find these documents on the provider's website.

Connecting Apple Health to My Personal Records

You can connect Apple Health through the Connected Devices page in My Personal Records. You can also select your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose Apple Health.

Select Connect and follow the prompts to allow My Personal Records to receive health data from the Apple Health app on your iOS device.

Apple Health collects data from your iPhone, Apple Watch, and other apps connected to Apple Health. You control what information is shared.

Once connected, the health data you choose to share is uploaded to your My Personal Records account.


Health data selection

Choose the health data you want to share with My Personal Records.

Select Turn On All to share all available Apple Health data or choose the data types you want to share individually.

You can change your selections at any time. Delete your data by selecting Delete Apple Health Data.

Notification settings

Update your notification settings to get notifications about your health record.

To view notifications, select your profile menu and choose Notifications.

When you are using your My Personal Records, you will see notifications for any new or updated data from provincial sources, such as Alberta Netcare.

These types of notifications will appear:

  • Diagnostic reports
  • Immunizations
  • Lab results
  • Medications
  • Procedures
  • Referrals

How to print your health report

You can print any and all sections of your Personal Health Record by creating a PDF or spreadsheet report of your information in MyHealth Records.

  1. Choose the Print Reports tool.
  2. Select Create Report.
  3. Choose a file type (PDF or Excel), then select Next.
  4. Select the type of health information you want to include, then select Next.
  5. Choose a date range.
  6. Choose whether to include attachments.
  7. Select Export.

Your report will appear on the Print Reports page with a status of Pending while it is being created.

When your report is ready, you can download or delete it.

Settings and preferences

Use Target Ranges to set your own target values or restore the default ranges used in charts, graphs, and other tools.

Select Edit to enter your preferred values for tools, such as Blood Pressure and Blood Oxygen, or select Reset to return to the default settings.

Use Preferred Units to choose how your health information appears, such as your preferred units of measurement.

Pre-set Time Ranges let you choose the time periods used by tools such as Blood Sugar and Insulin Use.
