Making it Easier to be Physically Active

What are ways that you can make doing physical activities easier?

You’ll be more successful if you do something that you enjoy. It’s hard to stick with something you don’t enjoy doing.

Something to think about...

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.Zig Ziglar

Imagine or think about a time when you’ve been building up your activity and are getting into a nice routine when you’re faced with a roadblock. The roadblock could be that you got sick, the weather changed, you’re going on vacation, a big deadline at work, or something else. What are you going to do? How will you get past this road block so that you can keep working on improving and maintaining your health?

Here are some ideas:

  • Plan active outings on your vacation
  • If you’re staying at a hotel, take 30 minutes at the start/end of your day to use the fitness centre
  • Even if you can’t do your activity session for as long doing something will help you keep the habit
  • A shorter, more intense activity session may help burn off some stress
  • Activity with a friend can be a nice way to take your mind off stress
  • Try keeping to your plan—deadlines are important but not as important as your health
  • Ask for help at work or at home to maintain a healthy work/life balance

Try to keep your routine. Changing the activity, the intensity, or how long you do the activity can help you to maintain new habit.

Like success, failure is many things to many people. With Positive Mental Attitude, failure is a learning experience, a rung on the ladder, a plateau at which to get your thoughts in order and prepare to try again.W. Clement Stone
