If this is an area that's a priority for you and you're ready to make a change, check one or two items you want to set a SMART goal around.

Remember, setting too many goals can be overwhelming. Think about your goals, your circumstances, and competing priorities you may have when deciding how many goals you want to set as you work through this learning module. Depending on what’s happening in your life you may be able to work on one goal or a few smaller goals at the same time.

Set Your Plan

If you wish to save the blank form or print your answers, refer to the reflection journal. Consider planning the details of how you'll make an activity happen this month.

  • When am I going to do it? (time of day)
  • How often will I do it? (how many days of the week)
  • For how long will I do it? (how long is each activity session)
  • Who can help keep me stick to my plan?
  • How will I track or measure the results?

Remember: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try taking smaller steps when getting started.

Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of riding a bike.John F. Kennedy

Support

You can come back to this self-learning module to review the information and try new ways of doing things. There’s so much to know and it’s not always easy. Even athletes need lots of support to help them stay on track and their monitor progress.

Don’t do this alone. Use the many supports around you that can help you with your choices.

  • Talk to your family doctor about this self-learning module and your health choices.
  • Use the resources available to you. You can find more information in the Resources Section of this module.
  • You can choose to share your decision with friends, family, people you work with, or even social media if you feel that they can be a source of encouragement for you. You may end up helping them by becoming their inspiration.
