The focus of intervention is short term recovery. Clinicians help clients generate achievable goals for stabilization and change. Parental involvement is expected for children / youth unless a client is assessed as a mature minor. Services are available for children, youth, adults and older adults with addiction and / or mental health concerns. Clinicians work with individuals and families to identify goals of treatment as they relate to their moderate to severe addiction and / or mental health concerns. Mental Health Referrals made immediately with Centralized Intake, however first time appointments may be on a wait period depending on demand for service at that time.
Domestic violence can take many forms, including verbal, physical, sexual, psycological, emotional, spiritual, and the violation of rights which can happen in any relationship based on intamcay, dependency, or trust. The Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) offers specialized support to patients of all genders who are experiencing any form of domestic violence. Individuals do not have to be in a crisis to access the DART response, and can request a referral at select emergency departments, urgent care centres, and maternity units. Participation is voluntary and at no cost to the patient.
Although, as of November 30th, 2023, the DART project has sunset, domestic violence services are still being provided through localized shelter response, while individuals are present within the Alberta Health Services (AHS) or Covenant Health facility. Referrals of patients to the respective shelters remain confidential, nonjudgemental, and choice-based. A referral is initated through the patient or by an AHS or Covenant Health employee. A shelter responder will connect with the individual over the phone to conduct further assessment and provide the following services based on their needs.

We can’t predict how long you will need to wait in the emergency department. Patients are assessed (triaged) using a standard scoring system called the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) to see how urgent their health needs are.

General Radiography uses x-rays to produce images of the structures inside the body, particularly bones. X-ray beams can pass through the body, but they are absorbed in different amounts depending on the density of the material they pass through.

A basic fee of $25.00 is applied to all requests which includes up to 20 pages depending on record format i.e. paper, electronic or microfilm record. Each additional page costs from .25 to .50 cents per page. Additional costs may apply. Fees are applied in accordance with the Health Information Act.

A case manager, who is usually a nurse, will meet with the clients and help decide what services will best support them.
Most services are covered for people with Alberta Health Care Insurance coverage, but there may be charges for services not covered by Alberta Health Care Insurance. In the Outpatient Dietitian Counselling program, families work one-on-one with a registered dietitian (dietitian) trained in Pediatric Weight Management. The dietitian will help the family work on healthy eating and active living habits and set realistic goals that focus on creating a healthy lifestyle. Areas of focus include nutrition, physical activity, sedentary time and sleep.
The dietitian and the family’s healthcare provider work together to ensure the family is supported in achieving their health goals. They can also assist in connecting the family with other supports as needed, such as physical activity, mental health, and community services.
The program’s aim is to help families achieve a lifestyle that promotes healthy growth and development in their children.

Provides care for pregnant women who are low-risk and more than 36 weeks, which may include:

Ultrasound is an imaging test that captures images of soft tissue organs, blood vessels and tissues using high-frequency sound waves (no radiation). Ultrasound is also known as sonography.

Walk-In: For clients walking in to see a counsellor, please come to the Admin door located on the Southwest side of the hospital and call the clinic to indicate you are here. The number is posted on the entrance door. Provides a short-term counselling service, to help people make changes in their lives. Screening and referrals may also be completed to connect clients with additional services.
