Endocrine therapy for cancer

Endocrine therapy is used to change the way hormones cause cancer to grow. These medicines help slow or stop cancer growth. This treatment may also be called hormone therapy for cancer.

Endocrine therapy may be used when tests show that cancer cells have hormone receptors that cause the cancer to grow. This may be part of treatment for cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer.
