Physiotherapy - Fractures, Orthopedic Surgery and General Injuries

Physiotherapists are movement specialists who are trained to help people improve participation in their daily activities. Through an active approach, physiotherapists focus on teaching exercises and educating clients on how to manage pain and their recovery. Children or adults who meet specific criteria may be eligible for AHS contracted physiotherapy services.
Services will include:

  • an assessment
  • home exercise program
  • education on your condition and how to manage daily living
  • education to support ongoing activity and long-term recovery

This service is provided by Alberta Health Services contracted service providers.

Eligibility

Children or Adults who:

  • have had a fracture or an orthopedic surgery (muscle, tendon, ligament, bone or joint) within the last 12 weeks. Program coordinators must approve funding for care that is initiated later than 12 weeks

OR

  • have a general joint, muscle condition or injury (e.g. sprain or strain), and meet the low income thresholds. To initiate this process or to find out more, call the Rehabilitation Advice Line

Wait times

An estimated wait time will be provided at the time of appointment booking.

Fees

Initial assessment and a set number of treatment visits will be covered by AHS for those who meet the service eligibility criteria.

Exercise and specialty equipment / supplies are not funded through this program. Cancel and no show fees may be applied at the discretion of the clinic.
