Medical geneticists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic conditions, such as cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, and hemophilia. They treat patients with a family history of a disease that may be genetic and provide genetic counselling to people before they have children.
Medical geneticists are certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
