Urine Test: About This Test
A urine test checks your urine for problems. It is often done to look for an infection in the urinary tract. You will be told if you need to avoid certain medicines or foods before the test. Also, tell your doctor about ALL the medicines and natural health products and remedies you take.
You will be asked to provide a clean-catch midstream urine sample. It collects urine without getting bacteria from the skin in the sample.

Follow-up care is a key part of your treatment and safety. Be sure to make and go to all appointments, and call your doctor or nurse advice line (811 in most provinces and territories) if you are having problems. It's also a good idea to keep a list of the medicines you take. Ask your doctor when you can expect to have your test results.
