Feeding and swallowing

Feeding is getting food and liquid to your mouth, getting ready to eat or drink it, and chewing or holding it in your mouth before swallowing. To be able to swallow safely, you have to move the food or liquid from your mouth to your stomach without choking or getting any into your airway or lungs. Feeding and swallowing problems affect a person’s ability to eat foods and drink liquids safely and comfortably. This also makes it hard to enjoy meals.
