Search can help you find the information you're looking for. MyHealth.Alberta.ca uses search filters to help you find what you need. A search filter is a way of choosing what part of the website you want to search. This makes the result you get more focused. For example, you may be looking for information about a medicine. You can select the search filter "Medications" from the drop down on the search bar to search only medication information.
MyHealth.Alberta.ca search filters include all MyHealth.Alberta.ca, Health A-Z, Tests & Treatments, Medications, Healthy Living, Services, and Patient Care Handouts.
When you get your search results, the page will show you all the pages that have the word you searched for. The order the results appear in called "ranking". Ranking tries to put the results closest to your search term at the top.
You can filter even more to get closer to the information you're looking for. The left-hand column of the search results page usually has ways to refine your results, such as by category.
To get the best results choose the word(s) you use carefully. The words should be as specific as possible. You may also narrow your results to a specific area of information on the website. For example, there is a drop down on the search bar to allow you to select from the following areas to search - All, Health A-Z, Tests & Treatments, Medications, Healthy Living, Services and Patient Care Handouts.
Advanced search lets you search for exact phrases as well as exclude words from your search.
