After surgery, you should sit up and get out of bed:
when you are discharged

When you have pain after surgery, you should:
try to forget about it
tell your nurse as soon as your pain reaches 4 on a scale of 0 to 10
wait for 15 minutes to see if it goes away
be strong; don't ask for pain medicine at all
