Your Best Health: Adult Weight Management

Change isn’t easy

Making changes is not easy. There are many things that contribute to extra weight and many options for managing it. What works for one person may not work for you. What works and what doesn’t may change at different times in your life. Try different approaches to see what works for you on your weight management journey.

There are no mistakes in this approach. There are only experiences to learn from.

Although its human nature to be critical of yourself, use your experiences as a way of learning what works best for you.

Pay attention to what you learn about yourself when you tried something different.

Use what you learn to plan and decide what, if anything, you may want to change next.

Keep in mind that changing habits and learning new skills takes a lot of time. Stick with it and be patient with yourself.

Something to think about ...

Think about the times you've been successful in making an important change in your life or your health. Go to your reflection journal and write your thoughts about these questions:

  • What worked for you before?
  • What was different about the times you were successful?
  • Can you use these things in your weight management plan now?
