You can ask for an interpreter if you don’t speak or read English well or use sign language. They can help you:

  • understand which vaccines you or your child can get
  • book an appointment for a vaccine
  • understand other health information you get

Vaccine availability

Albertans at high risk

COVID-19 vaccine is free of charge for Albertans age 6 months and older who:

  • Are at highest risk of severe illness.
  • Are more likely to be exposed to COVID-19 and spread it to others.

Some Albertans are eligible for an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine free of charge beginning April 7, 2026. You must wait at least 3 months between the first dose and second dose.

Visit COVID-19 info for Albertans to learn more about eligibility. Your eligibility will be checked at your appointment.

All other Albertans

All other Albertans age 6 months and older may be able to get COVID-19 vaccine depending on supply.

If you are not eligible to get COVID-19 vaccine free of charge, and you have not had a dose of COVID-19 vaccine since October 1, 2025, you can get the vaccine at a local public health or community health centre. You will be mailed an invoice for a $100 administrative cost. You can pay this invoice using the COVID-19 vaccines payment process.

An additional dose will not be available through local public health or community health centres for individuals who do not meet eligibility requirements.

Some pharmacies may offer the COVID-19 vaccine for a cost. This includes an additional dose for those who are not eligible. Contact a pharmacy to find out if they have the vaccine, how much it costs, and how to book an appointment.

Book a COVID-19 immunization

To book a COVID-19 immunization appointment, see the options below.

Appointments depend on vaccine supply.

For age 12 years and older

Albertans age 12 years and older are encouraged to get immunized at a community pharmacy.

To book an appointment at a community pharmacy:

  • Book online using the Alberta Vaccine Booking System.
  • Call Health Link at 811.
  • Contact your local pharmacy.

Many pharmacies also accept walk-in appointments.

To book an appointment at a public health or community health centre:

For age 6 months to 11 years

Appointments for children age 6 months up to and including age 11 years and their families are available at public health or community health centres.

To book an appointment at a public health or community health centre:

No Alberta healthcare card

If you don’t have an Alberta healthcare card and need a COVID-19 vaccine, call Health Link at 811.

Unable to leave home

If you can't leave your home for medical or personal appointments, you may be eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine at home. Call Health Link at 811 to learn more.

If you receive home care services, your case manager or healthcare team may contact you directly to talk about immunization appointments.
