Recommended vaccines

Learn about Alberta’s routine immunization schedule and other recommended vaccines.

Routine childhood immunization schedule

Use the free immunization schedule tool to get your child’s immunization schedule and know when they’re due for their next vaccine.

If your baby was born preterm, they can still follow the routine immunization schedule and get their first vaccines 2 months from the day they were born.

If you miss an appointment, or if your child hasn’t been immunized yet, it’s never too late to catch up. Book an appointment as soon as possible, and talk to your healthcare provider or public health nurse if you have any questions about vaccines.

All vaccines included in Alberta’s routine childhood immunization schedule are free for children in Alberta.

Influenza (flu) vaccine

The influenza vaccine is recommended for everyone age 6 months and older. Influenza vaccines are offered every year, starting in mid to late October.

COVID-19 vaccine

Vaccines are an important way to limit the spread of COVID-19. They are effective and very safe. Everyone in Alberta age 6 months and older can get a COVID-19 vaccine for free.
