Your Guide After a Hip Fracture

Relearning Activities of Daily Living

Your occupational therapist (OT) will teach you how to manage activities of daily living (ADLs) while you’re in the hospital. You’ll be given information about the resources and equipment that you may need to help you manage at home after surgery. It’s important that you have this equipment before you go home.

Your level of independence in your exercise program, mobility, and home management skills will be assessed. The healthcare team will make recommendations to help plan for discharge home.

While you’re recovering, you may find that you tire very easily. Feeling tired is normal and will go away over time.
