Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization Lab

The Maz (Mazankowski) has 3 cardiac catheterization labs that are supported by a multidisciplinary team. These labs provide 24 / 7 service to patients requiring care for cardiac disease. These labs provide adult, adult congenital, structural heart and pediatric diagnostic and interventional procedures. The CK Hui Heart Centre has 2 Cardiac Catheterization Labs.These labs provide 24 / 7 service for adult patients with cardiac disease requiring diagnostic and interventional proceures.

Provides transplants for people who have end stage lung only or heart-lung organ failure, and who meet the program's eligibility criteria. The Transplant Program provides assessment for patients with end stage organ failure, which includes but is not limited to:

• medical, surgical and psychosocial assessment
• diagnostic investigations
• consultation with specialists

If a patient is deemed suitable for organ transplant, the Transplant Program will:

• list the candidate for organ transplant
• monitor the candidate alongside the primary care physician while listed for transplant
• provide transplant education and support the candidate through the transplant experience

If a patient receives an organ transplant they will be followed by a Transplant Program lifelong.

Cardiac Navigation

The Cardiac Navigation Office ensures the efficient provision of cardiac services at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (Maz). The Cardiac Navigation Office supports triage and manages patients as they enter cardiac care providing support, education, direction and ensuring preparedness for their journey. This includes patients requiring cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology and device implants. The Cardiac Navigation Office ensures optimization of clinical resources and that wait times meet provincial and national performance standards for both in and out- patients as well as maintaining patient flow through program beds on a daily basis. The Cardiac Navigation Office is a liaison between patients, physicians and cardiac programs and supports planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating services for cardiac patients within the Edmonton, North and Central zones as well as patients who we serve from other provinces.

If a patient is deemed suitable for organ transplant, the Transplant Program will:

• list the candidate for organ transplant
• monitor the candidate alongside the primary care physician while listed for transplant
• provide transplant education and support the candidate through the transplant experience

If a patient receives an organ transplant they will be followed by a Transplant Program lifelong.
