This service is available on-site in hospitals and public health centres. Upon request, staff can be present at hospital rounds, medical appointments, and case conferences.
Indigenous Hospital Support Staff also gather traditional medicines, educate about ceremonial protocol, and are available to healthcare staff for consultation on a diverse range of Indigenous patient issues.
Patients and clients may also be asked about their healthcare experience to help ensure they receive the best possible healthcare.

Provides labour and birth care for pregnant women. Management of postpartum patients (0-14 days postpartum) presenting with postpartum health concerns and referred to assessment area by their most responsible care provider.
Sturgeon Community Hospital provides labour and delivery to low risk obstetrical patients over 36 weeks gestation.
Lois Hole Hospital for Women provides labour and birth care for patients with low and high risk pregnancies.
Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital provides labour and delivery to low risk obstetrical patients over 36 weeks gestation.

The service performs fetal echocardiograms at 10-40 weeks of gestation for pregnancies at risk for structural, functional and rhythm-related fetal heart disease.
The fetal echo views the heart walls, heart valves, heart blood vessels and heart's pumping strength. The service also performs newborn echocardiograms for suspected/at risk of heart anomalies not diagnosed before birth for babies in the RAH NICU and Well Baby Nursery only.

For residents from northern or central Alberta who have high-risk pregnancy concerns and require pre-pregnancy counselling or prenatal screening and diagnosis.

This Clinic offers assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education and short term follow up care for women requiring a multi-modal approach to treatment of menopause symptoms affecting quality of life.

The Obstetric Medicine team helps pregnant patients with complex health issues. Independent doctors who need extra tests or treatments for their patients can ask us for help. We do not take the place of regular doctors. Patients can call the on-call obstetric medicine doctor at the Royal Alexandra Hospital switchboard if they have questions.
Patients must already have health issues that are needed to be managed before and during pregnancy.
Service targeted to pregnant patients:
Urgent less than 1 week. Semi-Urgent less than 2 weeks. Routine pregnant patient 3-5 weeks; preconception 3-6 months.
Our bookings are based off the triaging done by our Obstetric Medicine team.

As part of our support for patient care and comfort, friends and family of inpatients at hospital and health care facilities can send well wishes via email. Sites participating in the program will receive the message, will ensure that the message is only "well-wish" (any other type of communication will be deleted) and will arrange for delivery within 3 business days. A couple of important reminders - the electronic delivery system is not a secure connection, so please don't add any confidential information to your message. Plus the "well-wish" system does not allow for replies or confirm receipt / delivery confirmation.

Initial Assessment cost is covered by AHS Allied Health Community - Edmonton Zone. If you qualify after your assessment, AHS will cover the cost of up to 6 treatments per year, between April 1 and March 31. If you need more than the allotted treatments, the extra visits may be covered by other health benefits (e.g. Blue Cross, etc.) or you may have to pay yourself.

The team includes nurses, physiotherapists and physicians with a focus on patient-centered care, based on patient education. Patients may be seen by various team members during their treatment at the clinic. As this is a tertiary care specialty clinic, patients can expect to be discharged back to their referring provider. Our goal is to improve quality of life.
