A range of treatment services to help Albertans improve their health, learn new life skills and recover from the harmful effects of substance use and problem gambling. Range of services include screening, assessment, individual and group counselling, referral to other resources, and aftercare support.
Assessment and treatment will include learning about your past history, present situation and identifying your goals. The counsellor will talk with you about the different treatment options, including counselling to help you reach your goals. Your counsellor will help you choose goals and strategies, make suggestions, and review your progress with you.
The office also offers information and support to anyone (including health providers and employers) about alcohol, drugs. tobaco, and gambling.
Prevention and promotion services are offered to help prevent problems and reduce harm related to substance use and gambling. Services include:
Support for individuals and families who have concerns surrounding alcohol, drugs, gambling, and tobacco use. Support for process/behavioural addictions (ex: gaming, sex, pornography, etc) may also be accessed in consultation with Mental Health Therapists and/or Psychiatrist. Services may include

Provides outpatient assessment, treatment, and follow-up for children, youth, and families experiencing addiction and/or mental health concerns. Clinicians work with individuals and families to assess and develop collaborative treatment goals and service plans. Services may include:
Addiction servicesSupport for individuals and families who have concerns surrounding alcohol, drugs, gambling, and tobacco use. This service is aimed at preventing, reducing or recovering from the harmful effects of substance use and gambling. Referrals can be made to residential detoxification services or treatment centres.Mental Health ServicesShort- and long-term counselling is available for individuals who have a significant mental health concern. Consultation and/or referrals to other agencies may also be offered.Mental Health Outreach ServicesThis includes community support services as well as support groups for individuals with persistent/chronic mental illness.Child Life SpecialistProvides in home support for parents with children up to the age of six who require addiction and mental health support.

A partnership between Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Public Health Community Services provides outreach mental health services to new mothers and their families. An assessment helps direct a treatment plan which may involve:
The mental health therapist collaborates with psychiatric services to alleviate the stress brought on by mental health issues and promote the healthy attachment and development of children.
Must be a woman or family who is pregnant or has a child or children under 1 year of age.

Participants in the Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program will engage in assessment and treatment services to address factors that contribute to family violence. This service is free of cost and offers an average of 2 - 5 sessions of individual counselling plus a 14 - 16 week group treatment where clients work with facilitators to explore the underlying causes of family violence and develop strategies to promote healthy relationships. Depending on the community, services may be delivered virtually, in-person, or both. The Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program is provided by Recovery Alberta following receipt of appropriate referrals from Counselling Alberta.
