A healthcare professional will guide you through the program and help you develop strategies to overcome barriers to being physically active. You will be provided with opportunities to attend educational sessions, exercise in a supervised group setting, participate in health-coaching, and work on an action plan to continue exercising at home or in the community. Learn more about how our program can help you by watching this short video.
In addition to our online offerings, some of our group exercise classes are offered in-person out of several locations around the City of Calgary. All participants must have at least one chronic condition and live in Calgary Zone to be eligible for these services. Visit our supervised exercise website if you do not live in Calgary Zone to learn about supervised exercise services available in your area.

Capsule Endoscopy Program - Outpatients

Capsule endoscopy is a procedure that uses a tiny wireless camera to take pictures of your digestive tract. A capsule endoscopy camera sits inside a vitamin-size capsule you swallow. As the capsule travels through your digestive tract, the camera takes thousands of pictures that are transmitted to a recorder you wear on a belt around your waist. Capsule endoscopy helps doctors see inside your small intestine -- an area that isn't easily reached with more-traditional endoscopy procedure.

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery

The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program supports implementation of standardized patient care related to nutrition, mobility after surgery, pain and nausea control, and fluid intake management. We engage patients and make them part of the team by involving them in preparation for their surgery and post-operative recovery. By helping patients stay strong, we can improve outcomes, reduce complications and create a better patient experience.

Before surgery:

  • patients are taught to minimize time without fluids or food

Spiritual Care Services

Provision of spiritual health care by clinically trained Spiritual Health Practitioners to patients and families across diverse spiritual, religious, cultural, and philosophical values, beliefs, and practices.

Spirituality is a dimension of health. A Spiritual Health Practitioner (SHP) is a member of the health care team that can help you understand your unique health journey in light of your personal beliefs, values, relationships and experiences. Spiritual healthcare is confidential, inclusive, compassionate, and respectful and SHPs are skilled in providing philosophical, spiritual, and religious patient care across beliefs, cultural perspectives, and practices. They address spiritual distress (experiences of loss of meaning and connection in relation to yourself, to others and to what you understand as greater) and promote spiritual well-being (connection in relation to yourself, to others and to what you understand as greater).

A SHP will listen compassionately and work with you to determine the support you want and need. Services may include the following:

  • counselling (supportive, problem focused or grief counselling), to help you:
  • find strength to accept what is happening.
  • find meaning and connection in the midst of illness, injury and trauma.
