The focus of intervention is short term recovery. Clinicians help clients generate achievable goals for stabilization and change. Parental involvement is expected for children / youth unless a client is assessed as a mature minor.

Services are available for children, youth, adults and older adults with addiction and / or mental health concerns. Clinicians work with individuals and families to identify goals of treatment as they relate to their moderate to severe addiction and / or mental health concerns.

Services are goal-driven; starting and continuing services is based on having functional reasons / goals for rehabilitation. Services will vary and is based on a child's needs and goals, and the availability of local programs.

Children and youth 6 to 18 years: specific eligibility (call to inquire), health-focused services are offered when a child / youth has a significant change in their medical or (neuro)developmental condition; or due to injury, medical intervention, surgery, or illness.

The Mantoux skin test is not recommended to diagnose active TB.

Testing is done at public health centres throughout the province:

Eligibility

Eligibility includes:

  • recent contact with a person with infectious TB
  • people with medical conditions / therapies that increase risk of progressing from latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) to active TB (HIV/AIDS, transplantation, chronic kidney disease, silicosis, lung cancer, cancer of the head and neck, being treated with immunosuppressive drugs)
  • all people less than 65 years of age who were born in a country with TB incidence greater than 200 per 100,000 and who have arrived in Canada within the past 5 years
  • all refugees and evacuees aged less than 65 years originating from countries with TB incidence greater than or equal to 50 per 100,000 AND have arrived in Canada within the past 2 years
  • individuals at risk for occupational exposure to TB
  • people who work or regularly volunteer with populations at increased risk for TB
  • residents / staff of congregate living sites
