Provides a healthcare team approach to assess and treat people who need total joint replacement surgery. The first appointment may be with a musculoskeletal (MSK) specialist or an orthopedic surgeon. An MSK (musculoskeletal) specialist will determine whether you are a surgical candidate.
The program will continue to follow your progress until after your surgery.
Clients who have been referred to an orthopedic surgeon for a hip or knee replacement.
An estimated wait time will be provided at the time of appointment booking.
Services may be provided individually or in a group and include:
Participation in recovery will be encouraged at home and in the clinic
Call a clinic listed to book an appointment if the fracture or surgery has happened within the last 12 weeks. AHS must approve care that is required to start later than 12 weeks.
Call the Rehabilitation Advice Line (1-833-379-0563) for general advice, available Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
This service is provided by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health Services contracted service providers.
Children or Adults who:Have had a fracture or an orthopedic surgery (muscle, tendon, ligament, bone or joint) within the last 12 weeks. AHS must approve care that is required to start later than 12 weeks.
Or a person that has a general joint or muscle condition or injury (e.g. sprain or strain), can call the Rehabilitation Advice Line (1-833-379-0563).

Children or Adults who:

Adults who meet specific criteria may be eligible for AHS physiotherapy services through AHS.
Initial assessment and set treatment visits will be covered by AHS for those who meet the service eligibility criteria.
Home exercise and specialty equipment / supplies are not funded through this program.
Trauma Clinic is from 7:30AM - 9:00AM Monday to Friday
Orthopedic Trauma ClinicThis clinic allows patients that are able to safely return home from the doctor's office or emergency department see an orthopedic surgeon for a consultation within the next day or two. Cast ClinicPatients that are seen in Cast Clinic are often in need of casting or brace immobilization, suture removal and/or post surgical wound assessments.
