Using the Innowell E-mental Health Online Tool

Care instructions

What is Innowell?

Innowell is a free online mental health tool for youth and young adults aged 15 to 24.

You use Innowell with the mental health care provider you see at school, in an Alberta Health Services clinic, a doctor’s office, and through other free mental health services in Alberta.

What does Innowell do for me?

You and your provider use Innowell to work on what matters to you. The tool helps you to:

  • set goals
  • track how you are doing over time
  • tell your provider what is important to you
  • take an active role in your treatment and recovery

It also connects you with the care options that are right for you, such as apps, e-tools, and local resources.

How do I start using Innowell?

Once you and your provider have decided that Innowell is right for you, you will get a secure email invitation from Innowell.

Accept the invitation. Then set up your Innowell account by answering questions about yourself and your mental health.

You can start using it right away. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on your phone, laptop, or tablet.

How does it work?

Innowell has 20 sets of questions about your mental health and well-being in different areas, such as physical health, anxiety, and depressed mood.

It takes about 45 minutes to answer all 20 sets of questions. You can answer them at your own pace.

Your provider will see your answers and discuss them with you. You can see and update your answers whenever you like and track your progress.

You and your provider will choose 3 areas to focus on during your treatment. As you work on your goals, you can explore the care options listed in Innowell. You and your provider will talk about which options are right for you.

What if I score high concern for suicidal thoughts and behaviours?

If you ever score high concern in the questions about suicidal thoughts and behaviours, Innowell will give you crisis resources available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Innowell will notify your provider about your high concern score. Someone from your care team may contact you to check how you are doing.

What if I need help now?

Innowell is not a crisis service. If you need help now, use the “I Need Help Now” button or call:
