Common Elements Found in Drinking Water

Safe drinking water is important for you and your family to stay healthy. Health Canada has guidelines for the maximum acceptable concentration of chemicals in drinking water. Chemicals can get into water from:

  • natural rock weathering and soil erosion
  • industrial by-products
  • pesticides
  • compost and animal waste
  • fertilizer and soil treatments
