Motivational interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a kind of counselling that encourages behaviour change by helping a person resolve mixed feelings.

A counsellor helps a person explore his or her mixed feelings about quitting a harmful behaviour, such as drug use or heavy alcohol use. The person is encouraged to find personal motivation to change the behaviour.
