Heavy use of alcohol (high-risk drinking)

Heavy use of alcohol (high-risk drinking) is defined as having 7 drinks or more per week.

One drink is a 341 mL (12 fl oz) bottle or can of 5% beer, hard cider, or hard seltzer, a 142 mL (5 fl oz) glass of 12% wine, or 43 mL (1.5 fl oz) of 40% hard liquor.

Heavy use of alcohol increases your risk of cancer, liver problems, high blood pressure, and other health problems. The more you drink, the higher your risk for injuries to yourself and others.
