Remember that sinusitis can take weeks or months to get better. Continue with the home treatment options you talked about with your healthcare provider.
Take all prescription medicine as directed. Finish the whole prescription, even if you feel better.
Over-the-counter medicines such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen or naproxen) can help. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking them.
Keep using the nasal saline rinse as directed. It can take practice to do it correctly, but it is an important part of treatment. Follow the instructions on the package.
Smoking can make sinusitis worse. If you smoke, talk with your healthcare provider about ways to reduce or quit smoking.
