If you have questions about your child’s social development and communication, you can contact the following early support services and programs. All children with developmental delays and concerns can benefit from early support and resources.
Children must be at least 2 years and 6 months of age and younger than 6 years of age, as of September 1 of the current school year, to qualify. Diagnosis of severe delay is required. This does not need to be an autism diagnosis.
Ask a member of your healthcare team for a list of agencies that offer PUF support.
Family support services include respite, counselling, supports to get your child to medical appointments (parking, meals, sibling care), clothing and footwear supports, and aides to help your child participate at home and in the community.
Apply early as the wait for an appointment to assess your family’s needs can be long. An autism diagnosis is not required.
