The healthcare team
To get the best images for diagnosis and treatment, it’s important to follow the instructions for your specific test. Each type of imaging test has its own instructions. Follow all the instructions carefully. If you have questions about the information in your letter, call the imaging department where you will be having your test.
A CT scan uses x-rays to make detailed pictures of the structures inside your body. During the test, you’ll lie on a table that’s attached to a donut-shaped machine, called CT scanner. You may get contrast dye injected into a vein or in a drink that you swallow. This helps to show parts of your body more clearly.
