Mammogram

A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast that looks for growths (tumours) or changes in your breast tissue. It can find cancer early, before you have symptoms and when it’s easier to treat. The pictures taken during a mammogram can also find tumours that you and your doctor can’t feel. If the mammogram finds an abnormal area or change in your breast, you may need another type of mammogram or other imaging tests to help make a diagnosis.
