Bites and stings

Most bites and stings are annoying and only need first aid or home treatment. Call Health Link at 811 if you need help with how to treat a bite or how to manage your symptoms.

Some animals and insects can inject venom into the bite that cause more severe or serious reactions. Be aware of the types of animals and insects that live in your area and know what to do when you get a bite.

If you have a bite or sting from something that might venomous, like snakes, some spiders, some marine life, call the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS). In Alberta, call 1-800-332-1414 anytime day or night.
