Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (Female) Pathway

Talk with your healthcare provider about a referral

Depending on your symptoms, history, and test results, you may need a referral to a specialist like a urologist, gynecologist, urogynecologist, or pelvic floor physiotherapist. The specialist may diagnose your concern, order more tests, and discuss treatment and management options with you. Not everyone needs a referral to see a specialist.

If your healthcare provider is referring you to a specialist, ask how long it will take to be seen and what you should do if you don’t hear back.

You can also make an appointment with a pelvic floor physiotherapist on your own—you do not need a referral.
