Female Urinary Incontinence Pathway

Get your assessments and tests

Your healthcare provider understands that urinary incontinence problems can be hard to talk about, and they are there to support you.

You can bring someone you trust with you to appointments, and you have the right to have a support person (like a nurse) present when you see your healthcare provider.

Your assessments and tests may include the following:

  • pelvic exam to check the muscles and organs in your pelvis and abdomen (belly area)
  • urine tests to check for infection or other issues
  • cough stress test to check if urine leaks when you cough
  • neurological exam to check for any brain or nerve issues
  • post-void residual to measure how much urine is left in your bladder after you urinate
