Most often, you and your healthcare provider will be able to work together to find prevention strategies that will work for you to reduce your recurrent UTIs. If you’ve tried prevention strategies for 6 to 12 months with little success, your healthcare provider may suggest a referral to an infectious disease specialist or a urologist (specialist in the urinary tract).
Your specialist will meet with you to discuss your health concerns and look at your test results. They may diagnose your concern, order more tests, or discuss treatment and management options with you.
