2.3 What insulin pumps don’t do

From the previous page, you can see that using an insulin pump is a lot of work. You still need to check your blood glucose, and you’ll still have to deal with blood glucose concerns. Here’s what insulin pumps don’t do for you:

They don’t work as an artificial pancreas.
They don’t automatically protect you from high or low blood glucose.
They don’t count carbohydrate for you.
They don’t give you insulin automatically when you eat.
They don’t take away the need to check your blood glucose.
