Intermittent Self-Catheterization (Female)

What catheter should I use?

There are many different types of catheters. They vary by the size of the opening (diameter), length, type of material, and coating. Some are discreetly packaged to tuck into a bag or purse.

Your healthcare provider will teach you about your options, give you some samples to try, and help you find out how and where to get catheters.

Catheters are usually used just once.

Some companies make pre-lubricated catheters (hydrophilic coated catheters). These can be more convenient, especially if you have to self-catheterize while out for the day or an evening, but they cost more.
