Your Best Health: Adult Weight Management

Change Isn’t Always Easy

Making changes is not always easy. There are many things that contribute to the extra weight and many different options for managing it. What works for one person may not work for another. It may change at different times in a person’s life. Take a trial and error approach as you continue on your weight management journey.

There are no mistakes in this approach, only experiences to learn from. It’s human nature to be critical; instead, use your experiences as a source of information and pay attention to what comes up for you. Use this information to plan and problem-solve and decide what, if anything, you may want to change as you go forward. Keep in mind that changing habits and learning new skills takes a lot of practice and persistence over time.

Something to think about ...

If you wish to save the blank form or print your answers, refer to the reflection journal.

Think about the times when you've been successful in making an important change in your life or your health behaviours.

  • What was different about those times you were successful?
  • What worked for you before?
  • Can these things be used in your weight management plan now?
